Still, "The Eye of the World" collects clichés about fantasy, and in countless references to the works of JRR Tolkien. The Wheel of Time is clearly not a very original work - at least not in this first text. Most characters have alter ego in The Lord of the Rings, some decorations are also very inspired - the village of the Two Rivers or the ruins of ancient and colossal statues, for example. Yet what looks at first glance to lack of originality does not prevent the reading of ownership and interesting. Quite the opposite: immediately transported in familiar territory, the reader is carried away more quickly by the dramatic events of the first chapters. The style is epic, writing very fluid. The heroes are identified immediately and with certainty we know that will go on an adventure. And even if sometimes the strings are really large, Jordan soon the tone: if the frame of the world folds around Rand al'Thor is that it is ta'veren is around him that the world's fate is woven. So it's big, yes, but it is also a very convenient way to justify the heroic acts and deus ex machina that surround the boy, without they fall so far as the hair on the soup.
Some characters are more engaging than others - there are in fact for all readers - and in general, the series is open to all - more than the throne of iron, for example, which is much more complex and violent . Here we are led by the adventure, and we witness the spectacle. Some passages are extremely effective and trigger waves of emotion. Some secondary characters are endearing and hope to see them in future volumes. The narration is in the service of the action and the pace is fast. This is indeed a very good fantasy story that makes you want to dive immediately into suites.
