What celebrate the Norwegians on their latest album, his time is miles ahead, bizarre and attractive, with a lot of attention to detail. Arcturus began in 1991 as a small but ambitious project of Messrs Garm (Ulver), Samoth (Emperor), and Hellhammer (Mayhem etc.). After several line-up changes already provided the predecessor slices good avant-garde black metal from a very interesting approach, but it has not yet succeeded in the Norwegians really conclusively to pack the good ideas into songs. And now? I really did not expect that this would ever succeed them, and now they pop the world a masterpiece out, which makes a truly addicting. Arcturus that have almost completely exhausted their potential, they really make any, but every second of this CD clearly. Each of the songs is somehow catchy thanks to great melody lines, but also under the skin because of spacey synths and masterful singing. But after repeated listening the detail and intricacy of the music is clear. The Norwegians really let out not a genre, and yet put it all together into a brilliant whole that one actually, if anything could only describe as "Avantgarde Metal". Black Metal is here certainly no more, even if the penultimate track "Radical Cut" with guest vocals by Ihsahn (Emperor) comes up, and losprügelt neat at the beginning. Apart from that, the rough vocals vanished completely, but the best will not be damaged wreaks. Are you looking for "truem" Black Metal, stay away! Everyone else should dare to the most innovative band this time necessarily once. Keeps the next album of this quality level, you can probably allow Arcturus to name the "Yes" of the new century.
