Waiting for Cousteau (Audio CD)

Customer Review

I do not know how it other lovers of music Jarre goes: After the excellent albums "Oxygene", "Equinoxe" and "Magnetic Fields" the joy is marred to his music by the fact that the subsequent works by digital sounds cold and increasing bombast were (with the exception perhaps: "Zoolook", because of its ethno-concept).
And then this masterpiece: The music on "Waiting For Cousteau" is played with digital synthesizers, but that's (almost) off the Overloaded. Jarre uses the first pieces of a Steel Drum band and a drummer. This gives the music soul. Unlike "Revolutions" the music sounds clear, crisp and varied. Especially "Calypso, Part 2", with its repetitive elements, I like very much.
Very good but the title track, which is almost 47 minutes (!) Long. A piece of ambient music in a minor key, flowing, liquid, refined with many sound-bits and pieces in my opinion anything but boring. The force dabbed piano sounds for post-hearing. At the end one regrets that it does not take longer.
Nice that it was released again. It is worth every euro.
