I bought the set:
a) because I'm classical solo piano fan and an output wanted is in play so that you do not hear the hammer of the stop. Hr. Kempff is arguably softer precise players. I hate "Piano Hämmerer" even if you are so-called "world-class players."
b) because it is being touted as a high quality output with excellent recording quality, what really was the German Grammophon in recent decades.
That was what I wanted.
But then the disappointment when I listened to the CDs. Several CDs have a permanent significant background noise. Whence comes this, is beyond me. It is extremely smooth and translucent not to get out of the recording environment. Rather it was the consumption electronics that produced this noise. My system is not definitive. I have, immediately checked with other CDs, which have very long quiet passages and there was nothing to hear.
Apparently, they had at DG unable recordings so careful to remaster that definitely no noise can be heard. Each "lay ears" may hear the sound slightly. Prefer not know how many experts your ears "folded", "had" as you hear the set. The noise spoils the listening experience completely.
It's a shame to bring the life's work of a highly successful artist qualitatively so miserable on the market. DG grade 5, set and make it better. A remastering of eliminating the noise would work wonders.
The box itself is nothing special. Of cardboard and without special finesse. The CDs stuck in cardboard sleeves, from which CDs are a little hard to take. Inside the box could be equipped with a smooth coating, then it would probably be better.
I have returned to the pits and I now go back to the search for a piano player with soft precision stop. For tips, I am grateful.
