Modern products are usually produced with a very limited shelf life. For my LaPavoni, which I bought in 1996, I got 2 years ago bought a new gasket set and changed itself and therefore they still (now 2014) use. As I have now bought a Handpresso (already the second, the first was for something given up the ghost on the warranty period) was clear to me that I will extend the life of the relatively small additional cost of this insurance to a total of 5 years. The conclusion of the insurance does not entail any problems for yourself, you just get the insurance certificate by e-mail sent (PDF file) and must keep this (together with the invoice of coffee) up to the date on which one to repair out of warranty the manufacturer is required. As it then goes on you can read in the policy conditions, but as far as I am not today.
