Upon introduction, Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse said that being Buddhist is to accept the truths 4 / following seals:
- All composed things are impermanent
- All emotion is pain
- No thing exists in and of itself
- Nirvana is beyond concepts
(Not to be confused with the 4 Noble Truths that only treat of suffering)
From there, he will constantly throughout the book to come back and explain each of these truths. An excellent introduction for those who want to better understand the fundamentals of Buddhism.
To read in parallel for a socio-historical perspective The Encounter of Buddhism and Western Frédéric Lenoir.
