Tony Levin is back with a new studio album - resonator. The album is to be recommended in any case. Totally worth it for anyone who stands on rock and progressive music. For my personal taste, it might even be a little more progressive, so only 4 out of 5 stars. The sound is brilliant and balanced, which was only to be expected, because Levin is a legend and one of the hottest studio bass players, when it comes to extravagant bass performance - not only since his work with King Crimson in the 80s. Who recognizes viewed Levin Discography, that Levin has already helped out with everything that has rank and name. However, his greatest fame he should have received for his work with Peter Gabriel. "The man of all basses" - as Gabriel placed him on his last tour before - around its existing ways of playing with his "Funk Fingers", the Uprightbass or the legendary Chapmanstick. But now to the plate: On the cover of the skull between the shells of Kopfhöhrers already seems to vibrate and hope for oppressive bass. The musical content is then available to the well in anything. The plate grooves from start to finish, particularly by its pregnanten basslines, support (also known both through her work with Peter Gabriel) by Jerry Marotta on drums and Larry Fast and the Keys. Other musicians: His brother Pete Levin (Hammond organ), Jesse Gress (Guitar) and as yet Gastgitaristen Adrian Belew (King Crimson) and Steve Lukather (Toto). Very good, I like the rock style of Levin's solo albums, better than the jazz and improvisation-heavy work which Levin has for example recorded with Bill Bruford (see, eg, Bruford Levin Upper-Extermities). But that's a matter of taste. Furthermore, I realize that my album is always like better each time I hear it. A good sign! Favorite songs at the moment: Break Down (grandiose bass line) and Utopia (triumphant upgrade with singing the version on "Waters of Eden") CONCLUSION: Who Levins have last albums like (highly recommended is the live album: Double Esspresso), which is well served even at the present disc. Keep Progging!
