The mixture would have done it!

The Foo Fighters are the epitome of the modern rock for me. As soon as she did it, with ballad-like songs, midtempo deposits to mix hard rock songs and pop songs a different band - and I think she can make so extraordinary. Your wide register of musical talent.
So we come to the new album "Foos", which I had already bosorgt on publication day.
I put CD1 (rock) into the player - and the very first song "In Your Honor" (the title donors Album) was a bit unusual: None really incoming music, no melodic singing - more of a hymn with speakers - no, not a chant ... more voice shouting.
... Well, this could be rather so called an intro.
Then I listened to the CD entirely on & was a bit ambivalent.
Hhhhmm, these are the Foo Fighters as you know? The songs were indeed already recognizable as Foo Fighters songs, but something was missing. Only I did not know what it was ... not hewed me all Sons just off the stool (but more on that later)
So I wondered a little irritated that CD2 (Akoustik).
This surprised me then again something. It was indeed used by the band sounds slower, but not to this extent and with such arrangements. Strings & Orchestra times here, sometimes harmonica, accordion & folk & Western influences there.
This CD was actually surprised me very positively. Even through the many Colaborations other artists (such as Norah Jones, Joshua Homme from QOTSA ...)
Although I must say here that I am not all the songs really well liked. Not bad, but not awesome.
After hearing the two Cds, I asked myself, as I approached the new album now? I do not know honestly.
I was rather a bit disappointed because I had hoped for something else; any outstanding hits such as Big Me, Walking After You, or the classic race Everlong ... but still not a bad album.
What was it? Good question, next question.
One has to ask rather: how many times do you need to be listening to zoom the album?
Because that is - in my opinion it needs several attempts to get his money. Because the album is !! from bye bye to getting better Also provides one or the other song as pretty awesome heraus.Auch the "Intro" I like really good now ;-)
What is what makes this album not yet the hoped About Album?
1. not all the songs of the new album are on the level that you had hoped / expected. One or the other song could have also omitted. Nobody would have been outraged that it would perhaps have been only 16 ...
2. the mixture is lacking - While the Foos have 10 rock & 10 softer, quieter songs, but here is also the biggest mistake of the album - which was considered a gimmick, is for me the negatives of the album: the strict separation by soft & hard. Because I find myself in my car again to claim the CD changer to skip back and forth between albums ...
... because if you look at the old albums of the band, you can see that in all this change from soft rock takes place /. And this is missing the album just unfortunately by this isolation and this itself is, in my view, already written above, was one of the big pluses of the band.
Conclusion:
What initially appeared unusual, get in closer Behören increasingly a brilliant role. Many songs have just that little bit extra. But as I said not all. And I also do not like the unfortunately separating the songs so completely by category. The album does not have the consistent quality of "The Colour & The Shape".
It remains to say that the Foos still play in the top league of modern rock. The music is very good and has very interesting arrangements.
But the bar, they had placed themselves with their 2nd album, they can not but stumble often something but plunge!
So overall a very good album, which should not be ignored. Class!
