First, I have on my tower PC and laptop (both with Windows 7) install the software CD. But this is fortunately not absolutely necessary as solid driver programs are installed in the Canon P-208 itself already. About the USB cable to the scanner that is immediately recognized and the corresponding scanning program opens automatically.
Even with my Windows XP Netbook Canon scanner was immediately recognized without I to the specific advice in the manual had to follow as a guide.
The scanner is supplied only via the included mini-USB cable. Unless a very nice thing, because then no longer have to deal with extra wires to.
Somehow reminds me the handling of the Canon scanner to a Swiss Army pocket knife, small handy and much inside what you need.
Behind the side door hides the input tray. To this end, it must be pointed that one must treat the scanner carefully and do not necessarily apply brute force it.
I recommend when you open the feeder door slightly up at the top with the thumb-nail and to depart, so that the door opens and continues throughout the scanner turns on by (the blue light of the button then glows).
And as with the pocket knife can then continue the paper-feed guide out flaps. Since the parts are all made pretty easily, so be more careful in dealing with it. Anons it may happen that something breaks off from feed slot.
After the scanner to switch Autostart switched to "on" and connecting the USB cable to the PC or laptop, the scanning is no more obstacles.
If you have installed the program CD, it is necessary to the corresponding Canon program can call the PC in order to scan to. If you want to scan using the Plug & Play function, it automatically opens the scanning program.
Personally, I find the "simple" Canon CaptureOnTouch Lite scanning program nicer Weil is almost foolproof.
You put the document or photo that you want to scan in the input tray. Possibly you have to adjust for even the size, but it works very simply via the side feeder aids that moves back and let procrastinate.
If you have inside the paper correctly in the input tray, press the mouse on the start button on the PC program.
It all depends on what kind of paper to scan, but mainly the Canon scanner works totally silent.
But I had also tried glossy brochure paper, since he began to squeak during scanning.
For me personally very impressive is the fact that the device automatically detects double-sided documents and then also scans the same accordingly. We must not let 2x undergo the same document then, no, it is the same dissolved and issued double-sided.
The final scanned document you can see then on the PC screen. The Canon-scanning program guides the user further then. Namely on the blue "Next Button" you can then specify the location and the type, as what the document should be stored, whether as a PDF document, or as a photo (JPEG).
The resolution and scan results are very impressive and convincing for me. Under Kundenbilder some scans can be seen that I have made with the device.
Those who do not necessarily have to scan every day Pages or thick identity papers will be well served with the Canon P-208.
A beautiful little handy scanner still works great.
Only one thing I find really a pity, for the price, would have Canon also a real good transport and storage bag for the scanner to be able to.
But maybe read with the company Canon and makes it so that customers are even more satisfied :-)
