The new EDGUY reminiscent of the "Hairspray Metal" of the eighties

Rocket Ride (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Do not be alarmed, "Rocket Ride" is a great album of Edguy. Only one or the other chorus might have been sung by Poison / Skid Row etc. With "power metal" the disk has nothing more to do. By mid-tempo piece a la Savatage "Sacrifice" the album starts strongly. With "Rocket Ride", "Matrix", "Out of Vogue" u. "Return to the tribe" very good heavy metal pieces are still represented.
"Wasted Time" is in my opinion the best song of the plate and is characterized Tobias Sammet as first-class heavy metal singer. "Catch of the Century" is one of the songs could dance to the refrain "Take that" on stage, nevertheless the song is a "highlight" of the disc. With "Save me" is, unfortunately, a song represented that could have come from Bon Jovi. A very "schmaltzy" ballad with Edguy, if the radio station would not be so intolerant of German rock bands, would loose the storm of the global Top10 Single Charts.
Total remembers "Rocket Ride" very close to the metal in the late eighties (eg Saxons -. Innocence Is No Excuse), when bands like Kingdom Come, Whitsnake, Dokken Mötley Crüe or millions of records sold (in the USA!).

Edguy Rocket Ride is all in all certainly one of the best heavy metal albums of 2006.

For fans of the "normal" Heavy Metal definitely a must buy.
