For many years it was pretty quiet around the charismatic "golden boy" who was able to record its largest and best known solo hits mainly in the eighties. Although Bryan Ferry published in the last two decades a number of good albums on which he always skillfully changed his musical style, and so, every work was his own touch; an album that, however, similar to me - Boys & Girls - completely moved into its spell, however, failed to materialize. With - Olympia - Ferry transformed itself now directly in the time of the eighties back, because the consistently popangehauchten songs again show the typical, sometimes flattering meekness and tender softness that I love so much in his music. The individual songs also possess again this exciting atmosphere, or that special something for that special something. The track titles - You Can Dance, Alphaville, Me Oh My, Shameless, Song To The Siren etc. - are directly reminiscent of the eighties.
I would like to emphasize at this point not one of the ten excellent songs because they crash into a so soothing melancholy through the ears, it is a delighted about to close my eyes to enjoy intensive pleasure can.
Although Ferry very worth hearing reports back with its new songs in the Olympus of quality pop music, he probably will not reach the commercial elite of today's "expiry date music", which personally but not prevents me from this work here deserve to give five stars, because it is an album that not only shows that Ferry can still write really good songs, but also gives us hope that this might still fulfill something in the near future.
