The Nintendo DSi XL compared to the DSi and the DS Lite - If the purchase makes sense or not?

I want to try to help with my review to the people who just wonder whether they should get the new DSi XL, even though they already have a DSi or DS Lite and advice but also people who think about just now, a Nintendo DS for sale.
I myself am the owner of all four devices and therefore can probably make a judgment.

When I heard about the Nintendo DSi XL for the first time six months ago, initially I was very disinterested, since I only had a few months my DSi and so was very pleased also.
I thought that a device that only offers larger screens was not relevant for me.
In the following months, I read more and more about the Nintendo DSi XL, both positive (longer battery life, bigger and better screens) as well as negative (the graphics are pixelated, the unit is heavy and unwieldy) and was actually getting interested.
Ultimately, I decided quite spontaneously to bring me the DSi XL but because me the innovations convinced more and more and I could not believe that the device would be worse than the previous!

So the DSi XL today met so punctually at me! Of course, I have since not put the device out of his hand and tested with various games like crazy! :)

Below I will now the pro and contra arguments, as well as list them separately some "matters of taste" objectively, each a picture of the DSi XL basis can make.
At the end I will additionally contain a conclusion for each candidate Add situation, so this review really targeted many can help.

Pro:

- The screens are actually much larger and better self-images come to their size do not really over. Unlike DSlite they are 93% and compared to the DSi something 30% larger.
I have now really a lot of games on the device tested in any graphic was pixliger! The colors are in my opinion even stronger and more intense.
- The sound was compared to the older models again improved somewhat.
- The device is of course again a normal pen with, but beyond even a thicker pen, which is very reminiscent of a pen and just perfect in your hand. Anyone who has played even with the new pen, do not want to play with the old, smaller Stylus
- The battery lasts on the fourth (of five) brightness levels much longer than a single charge on the DSi under the same preconditions, which is probably due to the improved batteries of the DSi XL. Even the re-charging is faster than its predecessor.
- Three free applications are preinstalled, the Flipnote Studio can be additionally downloaded at any time what I would recommend it to anyone. In addition, Nintendo gives each buyer of a DSi and DSi XL until the end of March 1000 Nintendo - points worth 10 when an actual Nintendo DS's - combines account. These points can then be in the DSi - shop spend for further software. Alone by the device receives a clear added value, thereby reducing the price of 180 again comedown in my opinion.
- The screens are much better this time entspielgelt and can be, thanks to improved technology now without sacrificing of spectators from the side look.
-The Unit operates by the size much more robust than its predecessor and can probably withstand a fall, moreover, people now come with big hands very well with the key control clear, I speak from experience.

Cons:

- The device will once again represent only a hardware update when a direct sequel comes, is still not fixed.
- Due to the size of the device, it may be that people with really small hands may possibly have problems to reach the shoulder buttons, which are also not often used in games (!).

Pros and Cons jeh's view:

- The surface of the Nintendo DSi XL is again in piano lacquer look, that is, it is quite susceptible to fingerprints, but the device looks therefore and also by my opinion improved design again significantly "more valuable" than the Dsi. Of course, everyone has to decide for himself whether he is good or bad, I think it is better in any case.
- The colors of the equipment - also ultimately a matter of taste, but many would probably have preferred a normal white or black.
- Once again, there is no slot for the Gameboy Advance games, but I think that after five years, now it gives the DS, no longer really tragic, finally, there is the Advance for a modest outlay. In addition, the slot is also really support itself by very few DS games like Guitar Hero. After all, one can use the DSi Shop with a wealth of new games and own more than 1,000 DS games, which of course all run on the DSi XL.
- The device has become quite large through the screens, is in my opinion, but still it to take it on the road, in a pocket or bag, it fits still.

My conclusion for me is therefore that it was a right decision to buy the device, since it is the play again intensified, I would not have initially thought possible. For this reason I give it 5/5 stars! The next handheld from Nintendo should then be the DS2 please!

Here is yet conclusively upshots for different situations:

They have a DSlite and want to upgrade: In this case, I suggest you take a Nintendo DSi XL because it is better in all respects than the normal DSi.

You do not have no DS unit or the first DS: Do you prefer to be able to play Gameboy Advance games, then it must be the DSlite, otherwise also here definitely the DSi XL. However, one should keep in mind that there are on the DSlite no no DSi Shop!

They have a DSi: This situation is the trickiest, because they should weigh for themselves whether the larger screens and other new features to justify a new purchase for them. I would give you if you are a frequent player, the DSi XL recommend in any case, they only play every now and then a few Gehirnjogging or Professor Layton, the DSi will do just fine.
