Lange was waiting for the completion of -Qatsi trilogy. The expectations are correspondingly large. At first glance, appears to be the most symphonic soundtrack Naqoyqatsi the entire works of Glass. Soundtrack is in my opinion also the wrong term for this that rather deserves the title Symphonie. The core pieces of Naqoyqatsi eight longer sentences, of which hardly takes a less than 7 minutes. This results in a perfect base from which to tell the film through the music. Musical ideas and stylistic devices can not only be indicated but are perfectly written out and -gepielt in beautiful melodic and rhythmic development. For me particularly impressive were the phrases "Massman" and "Point Blank" shining through compositional surprises and twists. Between the longer sentences are 3 smaller sets that probably act partly as a reconciliation or in a case as completion of the work. Reminiscences of the previous soundtracks, there are only sporadic. As always, the -Qatsi word is like a mantra sung by a bass voice in the first sentence. Later in the work appear sporadically musical facets that have returned to Powaaqatsi, but these are only cryptically in the individual sets perceive, but they make it through the compositional integration in the "minimalism" of Glass the listening experience significantly more complex. Naqoyqatsi is therefore as a fully independent work in the trilogy there. After repeated listening is very clear that Naqoyqatsi has clearly perfected the way to the "Concert Cinema". This has a lot to do with how Glass has included the voice of Yo-Yo Ma's cello compositionally. The cello of Ma is used as the voice of the old nature, which is against the mechanization of war. Some cello passages one can well imagine how they could be sung by a choir, they make you feel at times the mood and reminds Glass' magnificent 5th Symphony. Nevertheless, the cello, the message conveyed as voice without words in this conflict better than ever could a written word. And that is certainly the truly impressive aspect of this work. From this perspective it can give me only the highest grade. I personally hope that this work will also learn concert performances of symphony orchestras. For Germany would Conductor Steven Sloane with the Bochum Symphony almost a perfect choice, especially since Sloane is also conductor of the American Composers Orchestra.
