Positives:
Price and performance agree in a good relationship. The battery life is very impressive with about 8 to 10 hours. The processor is fast and along with the SSD hard drive can be impressive boot times achieved (approximately 20 seconds). The noise is very pleasant and you can use the notebook without problems in the library. I welcome the connectivity options that correspond exactly with card reader, 3x USB, LAN, VGA and HDMI my requirements.
The keyboard can be used well, and has a pleasant pressure point. Very positive I find the function that the battery starts to charge again until at a capacity of 95%, if you insert it to the power supply. This prevents the constant charge of 99 to 100% which affects the life expectancy of the battery. (For this purpose, it should be noted that Apple has this feature since at least five years.) The laptop is (visually) processed noble and makes a very good impression.
Negatives:
I can confirm the previous opinions that the sound is mediocre. The camera is okay and sufficient for Skype - great videos you can not thus turn (which I think is also not sense such a camera).
My concern about a reflective display have so far proved unfounded - but I could not so far out in the sunshine test. However, the brightness level might be a bit higher - but that's whining at a high level.
The noble magnesium-aluminum alloy has a very nice feel - but this rather annoys me is that the surface is very easily susceptible. I had the laptop with files (pure paper without metal rings or similar) in your pocket and have found a few times that in some places the mat surface is stained, where it shines a little. I thought there were superficial contamination that could be wiped away, but without success. One should therefore set at the beginning of a notebook bag that protects the surface. This shortcoming I find frankly very sad and would have given much more awaits!
With the pre-installed Windows some tools from Asus are already installed and a hidden recovery partition of 25 GB plus space takes off, leaving only about 80 GB remained free. I have the 25 GB partition (prior to an external hard drive) merged with the system partition and format and relaunched the system. That gave me about 30 GB more memory, which I do not find irrelevant in the 160 GB total memory.
Other:
Actually, I was planning to buy the laptop with a HDD and install the SSD itself. But when I saw videos on the Internet, how do you manage it (or not) I chose the 160 GB SSD to take and wait until the SSD storage is cheaper. The conversion of the hard drive is quite complicated and I would not recommend this in order to go to the Asus dealer. I already screwed multiple notebooks, but it does not seem to be done with a couple of screws in this model.
In the multitouch feature I could find no fault. However, the scrolling continues gradually and not seamless. How to configure the operation with two or three fingers, so far I could not find out ...
Conclusion:
The model I bought at Amazon for 849 (it is offered there irregularly at the price) and I am very pleased overall with the laptop and can give a strong buy recommendation! The disadvantages mentioned are annoying (especially with the alloy), but the benefits outweigh. In my long quest for the "perfect notebook" I finally decided to use this model and do not regret the decision. As the title states, there is so far no "perfect laptop" under 2800 and that's me then but a little too much. With the little mistakes I can live very well.
For this purpose, it should be said that I'm using the laptop more suitable for business applications and value put on high performance, long battery life, many connection possibilities and good workmanship. The graphics card is irrelevant to me as I do not play games.
