Design, IP certification, possibility to memory expansion and the performance of the installed CPU were raised when Xperia Z already beyond doubt, however, were my criticisms of the XZ:
- Display (poor contrast, weak viewing angles)
- Speakers (was like hidden while holding the heel of your hand)
- Camera (blurred shots and loud noise in low light) and no camera button
- Weak WiFi reception
The Xperia Z1 fixes -to the WLAN reception-these criticisms:
- The display is now also easy to read if you do not totally looking straight at the screen
- The black level is much better
- The speaker sat down at a position that is never obscured -neither when the smartphone is on the table or bed, even if you hold it in your hand
- The camera finally comes with dedicated trigger, so you can take pictures even blind or with gloves. The quality of recordings has also been greatly improved. Shots in good light are beyond reproach. In low light the XZ1 is not and the Lumias with OIS zoom, but still delivers above-average quality. By the 20MP sensor you can even zoom without loss of quality. 20MP shots, however, can be geknippst only manually, the automatic use only lower resolution.
- In addition, the battery has become stronger and brings me smoothly through the day.
The only drawback is that -in comparison to the already great anyway Xperia Z once more grown housing. It is through the new framework better in the hand than the Xperia Z, but when you see that LG with the G2 a larger display installed (despite the same size battery and even an optical image stabilizer) in a smaller package, then wishes you a be few millimeters less in length and width.
Pity is that this time is not accompanied by docking station, where you have to additionally buy the DK31.
All in all, the Xperia Z1 what I had actually been expecting me the Xperia Z. All my criticisms have been resolved and there remains a great -if also großes- smartphone.
UPDATE 09/21/2013:
Meanwhile, I've also been with the device the phone (although sounds strange for a phone, but is nowadays less common). The call quality on both sides is great! One understands the other very well and is also well understood.
Last night, I was surprised by the weather while running and was an hour in the pouring rain on the way and was accordingly by wet. The Xperia Z1 has it not mind :)
