Recorded in 1965 in full Soviet antireligious campaign, aired under the mantle in western countries, this version of Rachmaninov Vespers is simply the most beautiful, by the depth of his bass, his clear voice, beauty heavenly tenor of Constantine Ognévoï. While many other quality recordings have been published since, this one under the direction of Alexander Sveshnikov remains the deepest, most moving, and perhaps the most beautiful drive Russian sacred music.
