Tripod and camera were already available, so must her a remote release.
Some Cunning will now say that Panasonic GH3 can still be initiated via smartphone app away with any Android or Apple phone. Yes that's correct, but I use my phone mainly for calls. I do not want to imagine what will happen during a long exposure, when suddenly a call comes to me. Therefore, so that in fact, very functional app in this case was on the sidelines.
However, the good old cable release is also for many years in retirement, and for the GH3 does not even have a connection option. There's only a little electronics. After I did some research on the internet and my video had incorporated test for Hahnel Combi TF Remote Trigger on the Traumflieger website, the choice was already fallen. See also here: [...]
The Hahnel Combi TF trigger can therefore perform not only single, series and Bulb, long exposures, it is even possible controlled by the camera to fire a remote flash via radio with it.
After the arrival of the set, which consists of a transmitter, receiver and a connection cable to the camera, I was curious about the installation. The required batteries are included in the set.
Intuitively and without reading the manual, I went to work. And I first put the two AAA batteries into the receiver. Then I removed the protective paper from the transmitter battery. The transmitter is powered by a fairly widespread CR 20032 coin cell.
Opening the battery covers can be easily and without any tools.
Under the cover, there is also the 4 FH coding switch can be adjusted to each other with the receiver and transmitter. So several channels can be used simultaneously in one room without interfering with each other.
Both components have a hot shoe and can be mounted on the camera. The receiver has a 3-stage shift switch. So he's so off and put into operation mode 1 or 2. Mode 1 should be used when the camera corresponds to the model of the remote switch. So if you own a Panasonic and the set is labeled for Panasonic, position is recommended 1 of the slide switch. In the position of the power consumption of the receiver will be less. Position 2 of the slide switch should be used for other cameras.
Here I would have noted the first small gripe. The slide switch is a bit vague to use. Too easy it is slipped on the position 1 and must fumble something to push him from position 2 back to 1. At least the receiver is so switched off.
The transmitter does not have a separate on / off switch. However, it can also only be unloaded when it is stored so that the transmitter button is pressed permanently. Without the button to press zero energy consumption.
After I had set myself a personal code in two devices, I first checks whether the recipient responded to the sender. After turning on a red LED flashes on the front of the receiver, which displays when you press the transmitter button to receive the signal. When pressed halfway transmitter button, the LED on the transmitter and receiver will turn green, then Pressing the transmitter button all the lights give both LED by red light triggering.
Of course I was curious to see how the camera would respond to the new accessories. After I had the connection cable, which has on both ends a little multipolar jack connected to the camera and receiver followed by the first tripping test. No response to side of the camera, even though both sender and recipients clearly anzeigten through its LED, the camera should now focus. Where was the problem? It is important for the proper function, which plugs into the camera and which are plugged into the receiver. The black plug must in the remote jack on the right side when viewed from behind the GH3 and the gray plug must in the receiver. Finally a sense of achievement. When pressed halfway send key focus when all the button is pressed is triggered.
The remote flash function in which the transmitter is placed on the hot shoe of the camera and flash to the hot shoe of the receiver and so far carried out firings was not tested by me. But I'm sure that I will also use this feature.
Conclusion:
Obtained here for less than 60, - Euro a very well-made Universal radio trigger, which initiates with its special function also Flashes Camera sync wirelessly. The two devices are made of black plastic, which, however, visually and haptically feels not cheap. The units are very light and have a remarkably high working range (min. 50 m tested by me) and work on 2.4GHz.
I forgive only 4/5 stars because the slide switch to position unfortunately somewhat imprecise on the receiver. Here was saved at the wrong end. The transmitter would have a small on / off switch good standing. In his role, I can recommend this kit to anyone who buys price-conscious and pays attention to both quality and price.
As mentioned in my title bar, this set of so many photographic fields of application is available that I can think away from my photo equipment it was not more.
