This for the reason that there is here promoted by Paragon a "power tool" and not stingy with PR awards. Alone the statement "can increase the performance of the hard disk used by a multiple" does not come clearly from the pen of a typical PR or sales employee, safe by a technician. This tool can not perform miracles or to tease out more power than is technically possible. Whose sole task it is actually the upper limit of technically possible performance and technically possible life (primarily concerns SSDs) to provide a 4K plate safely. They noticed the coated product presentation also at the reviews of other users who want the tool to deny the existence because the plate afterwards does not provide the desired performance. ;-)
At Paragon: remains times please on the carpet!
As for the tool: It's also completely free as I said, for example, Samsung and Western Digital, here you get nothing that is also good Alignment Tool Acronis. Unfortunately, there is this tool Acronis not as universal tool, but in principle bound only as an OEM version of the respective board manufacturers. Since I as an admin (professionally and personally) me but a universal tool wish I found after some searching repeatedly pointing out this tool here from Paragon. Of course you can also subsequently otherwise correct the alignment in vain, for example when using a corresponding Linux Live CD with GParted. So you have to be settled in the matter read and even has a few hooks and eyes and remains a Gefrickel. Not for everyone. Even with standard Windows tools is at least the set (partition) of new hard drives with the appropriate knowledge possible, but again, in my eyes Gefrickel. By the way, for normal scenarios, such as the fresh installation of Windows 7 on an SSD such special tools not necessary, since Windows 7 already provides for the correct alignment itself.
Basically, the tool is easy to use, has a clearly understandable interface (see photos) and informed very nice over all disks and partitions. It has also for worst-case scenarios - so if something goes wrong in the process - various hedges. What I can suck not judge, because so far the tool has said or better in all panels partitions works reliably. At this point, however, the obligatory reference on such actions: before performing a backup!
The tool here can be not only an admin / engineer, but also a "normal" user recommended without hesitation. Solely the price is covered for this functionality and would actually cost a point deduction. But the tool reliably (and quickly) works and provides a surface with no trip hazards, there very nearly a perfect score.
Update 10/12/2014:
The tool has already proven itself in many hard drives well, recommendation remains unrestricted.
Basic information on Alignment:
Alignment is not a property which is relevant only in the context of SSDs, but also applies to conventional drives that work with the new Advanced Format. Recognizable are those panels on additional AF or AFD, often referred to simply as "4K disk". Below the scenarios should not be considered or where alignment.
SSD: Incorrect alignment has an adverse effect on service life and performance.
Recommendation: Check and correct for correct alignment if this is incorrect.
Conventional plate with AF: life in this case is practically irrelevant because on a conventional plate a "memory cell" if you will, many times more writes than tolerate on a SSD. But the performance is reduced here.
Recommendation: Check and correct for correct alignment if this is incorrect.
Conventional plate without AF: There simply is no "wrong" Alignment and thus would be a "correction" also unnecessary.
Recommendation: Alignment ignore.
