Once the campaign, the heart of every C & C. Unfortunately, this can be denied only with Nod, GDI or Scrin a campaign there is not. A story in the conventional sense does not exist, the campaign is a confused compilation of gaps of two decades in the C & C-timeline. There are revealed some secrets, including what to Kane's alleged demise at the end of the 2nd Tiberium War happened (including the submission of the black hand - the first missions are nothing but Nod internal struggles, you have to stomp factions in the ground to their to secure loyalty) and - what was the most interesting thing for me - uncovering the conspiracy around Kilian Qatar's attack on the Prime Temple (in C & C 3).
In Kane's revenge is exceptionally plays no 'nameless Commander', but slips into a predefinierte role in the new experimental Combat AI of Nod, LEGION. LEGION is a derivative of CABAL based on the information from the Tacitus - a devilish combination, ie. I have the entire campaign through it expects LEGION, manipulated by both the Scrin, as well as from the 'spirit' CABAL, turns against Kane and another conflict provoked - but nothing happened, although there were half game over suggestions that LEGION is nowhere near as dependent on Kane, like this, it would have liked. The most disappointing the end that suggests a coming 2 add-on is (the EXE file of KW is called "cnc3ep1.exe" - well this might suggest that a 'EP2' is in the works, which, given the 'open end' of Kane's throat almost duty would).
Unlike Zero Hour one is confronted throughout the single-player campaign with the various sub-factions - and this must also command itself. You play as both 'Black Hand' (a group of religious fanatics, leaves the Confessor fighting as infantry and primarily relies on 'cleansing' fire arms), as well as a 'Marked of Kane' (reminds me of CABAL army from Tiberian Sun, Cyborgs and Tiberium weapons are their métier) some missions and comes to enjoy their unique units and upgrades.
Enjoyment, is a relative term. The Marked of Kane are playing somewhere between 'pointless' and 'totally useless' settled (after the enormous effort that is taken up in the campaign in order to raise it, I have actually the 'Non Plus Ultra' Nod expected but their weapons are all too weak), while the Black Hand manages with just one unit: a Redeemer, combined with a saboteur and a Black Hand squad is nearly unstoppable. Likewise, devilish (at least in groups) are the Purifier, the predecessor of the Nod Avatar, which, though weaker, but standardized with a flamethrower equipped, which has a considerable range.
