I begin with the abstract (because I know we often read the early reviews and that it dives into the details if you are interested in the subject :-)
+ Good battery life (about 5 days)
+ Quite beautiful and understated (rather bracelet watch)
+ Convenient notification system (the phone must be not far in this configuration): calls (Caller Display), texting (and the message), appointments and reminders (and the message).
+ Strong, waterproof, lightweight therefore compatible with many activities. He knows how to forget.
+ Can operate far from a smartphone (synchronizes to return: if you want to practice running light).
- Screen saver output to review
- A setting of the display time would be welcome
- Lack of sunlight readability (but this is not the disaster either)
- Improve bracelet system (a little too public swimming pool!)
Box contents: the bracelet, a USB charging cable -> microUSB 10 centimeters long (remember the connection to a tower under your desk!) And a case in which the eclipse watch for charging. In the housing, the display of the watch remains visible and manipulable.
Talking immediately recharge precisely: 1H-count 1:30 into the USB port of a computer and 30 minutes on a charger (another commentator said that it was not working on my home charger but it works well, even super good). The bracelet uses about 20% of its energy daily. Therefore expects a range of a little less than 5 days: it's pretty good. Coupled with a rapid recharge, it gives you time to read a book a little in the evening while charging without having to leave the plug overnight (this is for the smartphone that we must also reload and it is all days!).
Steps:
- Go to the site for you Striiv register.
- Download the app Striiv (no problem to find it on Google Play Store).
- Connect the watch (I say show because it gives the time anyway): it displays a pairing code with the application (no need to go through the Bluetooth phone).
- Launch the app: enter a username and password that has just chosen the site of Striiv and enter the pairing code and go.
When I say "let's go" it is an expression because I met disconnect problems at the beginning, which were difficult to solve without having to reset the bracelet. However, the app detects that the bracelet program should be updated and made the update automatically (this is perhaps why there had then disconnect problems).
Skip this nervousness early, the application is quite well done. A big counter for each activity followed (number of steps, running time, kilometers traveled and calories burned). Targets are set according to the settings back to the beginning (height, weight, age) but could be adjusted individually according to his needs / desires. The application is entirely in French except "tips and tricks" that are entirely in English! The strap need not be permanently next to the phone. They can be separated and they are synchronized when they approach. Bluetooth phone must be permanently activated (anyway, the application displays a message when the bluetooth is switched off).
The bracelet therefore counts your steps throughout the day and deduce other parameters. It can also track your sleep. Finally, "follow" is a big word: YOU tell him when you go to bed and YOU tell it when you wake up (via the application or directly on the wristband). One would think that it can identify this alone. The site mentions a possibility of being woken up at the best time of the sleep cycle: I have not found this function. Maybe he needs many cycles before deducting the optimal time and provide adequate warning? The histogram of hours of sleep per day is cut. If you lie on Monday at 22H to get up at 6 o'clock it will count down 8 hours of sleep on Monday. If Tuesday you fold at 0:30 ET as you get up at 8:30 it décompetra 8 hours of sleep ... on Wednesday. At first I thought that the bracelet was a problem but when you think he's right.
The app also offers a game based on the number of steps done in the day. I do not see the usefulness and, in addition, this plant gets me therefore unusable.
The bracelet itself:
- Rather solid, completely black, with no button. The glass is also strong. Fortunately, as to display the time in the watch must awaken by tapping it and it does not work every time. Sometimes it also works by shaking strong enough bracelet. The closure system is not very convenient (a bit like the bracelets in some key pool). But it is never opened by mistake. You can shower and do their sport with because everything is tight. The manufacturer suggests to cut the bracelet to fit morphology. I liked it a little longer for us to fix the ankle (I practice volleyball and wearing a watch is not ideal for this sport!).
- Coming out of standby, the bracelet displays the time and date in large and smaller. You have to read fast because the display switches off very fast (2 seconds). Scrolling works fine. It displays the different counters and to reach a icon "apps". When we tap once to confirm, there are other symbols that appear: a man who walks to return to the counters, a small moon to say that we will sleep and you wake up, an exclamation point to display the last received text messages, a small house to return to time and a gear for parameters (battery status - as displayed by the app, reboot ...). The Striiv site indicates that new apps will be added as and when changes, which is rather positive. There is also a partnership with Runkeeper (I have not tried) so that the apps are trading activity data.
The bracelet is vibrating. It vibrates to signal incoming calls, received text messages and calendar reminders. We can not answer the phone with her bracelet. There is a historical system notifications. One can "open" text message notifications to read text messages themselves (notification shows an excerpt from text) messages. The number of vibrations varies according to the notification: 2 for texting, 3 for reminders.
Do not hesitate to ask questions if you have them!
I will update my review if necessary.
