Who would have thought that the world of Depeche Mode will be all right? After the departure of Alan Wilder (the end of the musical-technical experiments?!?) And the drug problems of singer Dave Gahan many fans saw swim their skins. But nearly twenty years of music history do not dissolve easily in air on so! They came back, Dave Gahan had been working on his voice and otherwise the music is not quite so grungy and rocky, as in the "Songs of Faith and Devotion" CD, but still backed by guitar riffs. Text default could almost think that Martin Gore has been trying to cope in his texts the past by Dave Gahan and so you have to really bow down to this band that went through ups and downs and it has like made no other band, not only to survive, but also to continue to develop and remain top at all levels. My absolute favorite song on the CD is "The Love Thieves", although it is certainly not a talent to hit single such as "Barrel of a Gun", "Home", "Useless" and "It's No Good" would have. One more novelty, there are on this CD: There are two instrumentals "Uselink" and "Jazz Thieves". That had recently given only on the first two albums, and on the "Music For The Masses" CD with "Pimpf". An absolute gem, not as edgy as the last CD, but also not aimed at commercial - should be in every major CD collection! (This is an Amazon.com at the university-student review.)
