I had compared the specifications of both cameras before buying and have come to the conclusion that I primarily the display opposite the autofocus system and the high frame rate is worth (I photograph little movement). Even with less Custom Functions, etc. I can live.
In the summer I made a three-week road trip through the USA with a some friends, one of my friends used the 7D, while a direct comparison was possible. Mir are 3 little things noticed in the operation, which governs only the 7D, but me so were unaware.
What follows is "whining at a high level" and should be understood more as an additional decision support between these two models.
I have my EOS not primarily purchased as a holiday camera, but I would hardly take pictures at home and unpacking only travel I would strongly include the following points in my consideration with:
1. The white balance can be at the 7D over the shoulder buttons to adjust, you have to activate Live View, so you can scroll through the Kelvin values, the result showing can be seen directly on the display. When the 60D is to my knowledge not possible this permit show directly. On vacation I take pictures to any time of day and places, therefore light moods change frequently.
2. If you also use the video function, you need the dial on this setting in the 60D. The video function is, however, at one end of the wheel, Photographed you find yourself but mostly in C, M, Av or TV on the other end. You have to turn the dial from one end to the other end now. As you turn it must be unlocked yet at the same time (the button on the selector dial has to be pushed down). Be cranked it can not.
The 7D makes it easier to switch between photo and video through just a simple toggle switch, handy when you have to change quickly for a ground squirrel or bird, or generally often video snippets and images often receives equal.
3. The 7D has a dedicated button for to switch between RAW / JPEG, with the 60D has this at least via the Quick Menu done. I've never used throughout one of the two and more often also changed depending on the quality of the subject. Such a key would not hurt even the 60D.
Otherwise, I'm very satisfied ...
