I must say that for a Western, Western thought and Eastern thought seem to be separated by an impenetrable Wall of China. If philosophy, not Eastern necessarily interested in you, it is more than normal to delve into reading the "Tao Te King" Venerable Master, Lao Tzu: this text founder of Taoism inspires in us millions of questions. Even if some sentences are puzzling at first then finally clears, others are a speed and unparalleled accuracy. Marcel Conche intervenes by signing the translation and -more important- comment: it prevents us from making unfortunate misinterpretation of the sentences of Lao Tzu but draws parallels and overlaps with the pre-Socratic philosophers such as Heraclitus and other thinkers like Montaigne or Descartes. The book also contains an excellent introduction and the author of reflections that address violence, civilization and serve conclusion to the text. If you are of those who believe that East and West are so far, come visit in China with Lao Tzu and Marcel Conche, you will not be disappointed with the trip!
