The Laphroaig QA, Quercus Alba (White Oak), is a typical smoky Laphroaig. The (probably) relatively young whiskey was again ripened in freshly burned, US ASTM white oak barrels for maturation in ex bourbon casks. But this brings my opinion only an indefinable, strange yes, FLAVOUR finish. The alleged notes of vanilla are imperceptible to me. The smoke is, as with all of these whiskey distillery, on clear and always noticeable. However, the whiskey lacks the maturity and complexity. The QA Cask is probably the market intended for the "Travel Value", hence the 1 liter bottle. I personally prefer the Laphroaig Quarter Cask, as this is much more complex and full-bodied. Certainly a high-quality whiskey which is not honoring my bar again. For this is not true price / FLAVOUR my opinion. I will surely find it not a pity if the bottle is empty - and that says a lot. The Laphroaig, the least suits me.
