I remember like it was yesterday that I in March 2000 - already totally jittery because of the evening held HIM gigs - dancte to MTV mish-mash through my first home; and there was this really great song at a time. I had to look, "Reamonn" was under there, and "Supergirl". And I thought: 'That's not possible. Those are the ones tonight occur as the opening act. INGENIOUS! The evening can be only class'. And he was there. The opening act was better than the main act.
Besides being Reamonn Just an unbeatable live band was (were because I for years to no Reamonn gig was simply more and therefore the current state can not judge), confirmed the album shortly after appearing "Tuesday" my expectations fully.
Reamonn are certainly not the band that is called to greater things. They are not Radiohead, U2 or REM's and there were not for these, their best times. But they understand just on Tuesday excellently to spread boisterous celebration mood, such as in "Stripped" (one of my favorites) or "Torn", it holds a simple difficulties while in the chair. The whole is interrupted now and then by completely relaxing ballads ala "If I go" or "Just a day".
In contrast to the ballads that now prevail on Reamonn albums, you can from those on "Tuesday" say with complete justification, that they truly exude feeling and emotion and to instrumentalized resourceful and well sung.
The obvious weaknesses of the album are the newer albums: The CD brings a whole bit of the resounding power over, which is the band capable. The difference between live performances is sometimes considerably. The lyrics are rather weak - what you can still forgive for a debut. Therefore, only 4 out of 5 stars there.
"Tuesday" is definitely the emotionsgeladenste, most diversified, most original and most honest album Reamonn have ever delivered. This can be even after almost 10 years as a band still be stated. Everything that comes after that, these lofty entrance brand misses partly to Ellen.
I personally believe that the latest from the third album "Beautiful Sky" incipient negative development towards mainstream pop is mainly due to the dominant role Rea Garvey within the band. Musical and conceptual differences were within the band already during the day Tuesday. Even then criticized other band members Reas dominant position and the band was the end of 2000 even briefly, almost on the brink of.
Actually very very bad about this great band per se that the rescue of the overall concept was apparently only at the expense of authenticity to realize.
