I'm a fan. This second volume of the adventures of Nicolas Le Floch takes us back once more in the 18th century, the court of Louis XV and the Paris of that time. It is a treat, more than we now know the various protagonists, it's always fun even if sometimes the plot is a little convoluted. Regardless, the point is elsewhere. Indeed Jean François Parot really makes us discover a universe which was that of our ancestors and everything attached to it (eg the kitchen with some recipes that would pounce dieticians of today) but also medicine, intrigues, police, poverty, opulence of some ... One regret is that there is not a map of the Paris of that time inside the book. We could thus better accompany "the dear little Ranreuil" on the trail of the killers.
