Tip device's pleasant work

I play a lot of PC, even FPS games like Counter Strike, Battlefield 3, etc. - for which I advise against this trackball! If you aim at a reasonable rate and wants to play on "professional level" such games, then you should take a normal mouse.

But for work - and for that I bought it - it's heavenly. I have been doing years music and take them itself on. Recording, mixing and mastering of suitable songs requires hours of work, which is facilitated by the trackball. You can move the ball very relaxed and the work is no longer a problem. Contrary to Top Reviews (The already years old are !!!) can be programmed and used all 4 keys individually. Indeed, there are 2 drivers from Kensington. Once the driver for the SlimBlade which only two mouse buttons allows, in fact, there is otherwise connected in the different media capabilities with the other top two buttons. BUT - the other driver, called TrackballWorks, although no longer allows the changing of the media functions, but allows you to assign different functions to the keys. This goes beyond browser control to open the desired program or file. Just awesome.

In addition to the four buttons, one pressing of two keys may also prove the same with functions. (Press both upper buttons or pressing the two lower keys). So one thus has a total of 4 buttons with which you can retrieve 5 user-defined functions. (No 6 functions as the lower left button is permanently assigned to the normal left click)

Scrolling is achieved here at SlimBlade also excellent. The ball is simply rotated on the Y axis, it clicks and it is scrolled. This feature is very well thought out and fine-tuned. An unintentional scrolling does not occur and the Click sounds very pleasant. Clicking comes überigens from the device, not from the speakers. So if you are listening to music loud and scroll, you can not throw a click through the whole house. Good thing. Incidentally, there is also no intention that the ball will stop by scrolling the verge of a dot. We know that in ancient ausgenudelten mouse wheels. Here comes nam easy ans wheel and you're jumping on the next screen. This happens when SlimBlade not because it resets the position of the scrolling after a brief respite. The scrolling is so still properly, but will not scroll if you do not want it also.

The run of the ball is also good in my opinion. I have come to the trackball, because a colleague has and uses a Logitech. There is the ball with the thumb moves. I think it is but with the really big ball of Kensington much more pleasant, accurate and above all, the ball going right around. The ball itself is located on three small spheres which are in the interior of the housing, on, so that the rolling resistance is really small. No flinching or hook, everything was perfect.

The only shortcoming is the click feeling. I'm used to the click of my Logitech MX ung G500 mice, the pressure point there is perfect and the clicking sounds nice. But the key from Kensington sound quite different and can be pressed 1 mm before the actual click happens. However, since the device is for the office that is absolutely manageable and not even worth the withdrawal of a star for me.

Overall, I am very satisfied. (Have now also the Expert Mouse Kensington ordered me to compare whether there clicking feels better, the technology is supposed to be the same. Think, however, that I will keep the SlimBlade. Already because of the playful but working properly scroll function and successful design).

UPDATE:

I have received the Expert Mouse and sent back directly. Compared with the SlimBlade the keys even cheaper feel to that processing can not assume that you have spent so much money and the scroll wheel feels and sounds like, as if it had been rotated for years and only just before the break. The technique is also not the same - while namely has two optical sensors when SlimBlade, the Expert Mouse has only one sensor. The ball could be turned worse am important - although I do not know if these are not only "shrink" must.
