I bought the CD mainly because of the Peer Gynt suites, as we have come in the past Norway holiday at Peer Gynt way around and were curious according to the setting of the old poem "Peer Gynt" by Henrik Ibsen. Especially with the "morning mood" able Edvard Grieg a striking image of the barren plateau, grows with hidden charms. Here the drama takes its course and begins the odyssey of Peer Gynt. "Aase's Death" (the mother of Peer Gynt) sounds the theme accordingly dark, but offers a wonderful Nordic character. The most famous piece is probably "In the Hall of the Mountain King": triumphant and impressive translated Grieg the underground world of the trolls in music - one thinks almost to be observed just from amber eyes. In addition to the Peer Gynt suites are still a tribute to the Norwegian-Danish writer of comedies Ludvig Holberg "From Holberg's Time" and a stage for music drama "Sigurd Jorsalfar" on the CD. The latter inspired - as the Peer Gynt suites - more than just the ears, so that scenes and feelings come to life in the mind's eye to the music. In inlay describes a successful introductory text with a few words for each title its historical and musical background. This CD is less something for the way, but rather for the musical enjoyment, which one wants to concentrate deliberately.
