A standard box does what it can, but well maybe not more. A Linux box out-of-the-box makes it even, but can, if one is concerned with much more. I have certainly now been playing a new image (VTI 1.3 pretty easy) and edited the channel lists.
This reflects the comfort, if you linked the VU Duo. HDD installation was also a no brainer.
Example of the variety of functions: The children watch KiKA before TV and I stream on my laptop connected to WiFi me sometimes just a action flick on the screen.
Or: The built-in HDD stores programs not only recorded but is wiederunm over the net and the "source" for a media player (if you do not the VU will.Die itself hernehmen for options are vielfälltig, but put a little willingness to advance to deal with the matter. There is a very helpful VU + Support Forum, where even beginners will happy to help.
All in all, the device for me and my family fit.
If I should have to install potential for improvement it would be the boot time from the off (approximately 1 min. Ca 2sec from Stby) and that the output is 1080i, but in today's transmission environment is not a limitation, and moreover any better AVR / TV an interlacer with brings.
