I have for a mechanical keyboard certainly wanted one month and plentiful, really extensively researched. there play many factors involved: the type of switches, the layout, etc., etc..
for me it was not safe from the outset, which would I prefer switches, as this was to be my first mechanical keyboard. I have concluded by research in many forums, that each person has to find there his preference itself. I opted for the brown Cherry MX switches and do not regret it.
Fields of activity: gaming: BF3, SC2 ca 10-15h / week, so mediocre lot, photoshop / illustrator / indesign ca 30h / week, so pretty much, emails and texts also write rather more.
the switches: feel absolutely great. the tactile feedback is barely noticeable, but if you carefully puts his finger on the button, you can feel a small resistance, which can be easily overcome. often talked about the key noise and enige people prefer here a click or a loud noise. I hereby affirm that the brown switches can indeed show no click (as it also product descriptions in all the forums and in the cherry-right stands), but still very much are loud - in a good way. often is also differentiated (fully heruntertrücken key vs tap only) between "tapping out" and the opposite of what the tip-style describes. I am not a professional typist, but type in quite quickly. and it seems to me almost impossible the key is not completely push down. So there is always a clearly audible feedback. sounds fantastic. those who would buy the noise due to prefer blue switches (start only from the - but really great - noise) and for all, which I can only say: do not believe that the sound of the brown switches is in any shape softly. it's really loud and sounds like "oldschool" on.
But it is also - at least if you come from rubber dome to mechanically that you only times must get used to it. I write Felt 50% faster with the QuickFire TK, but also make faster Error, because the keys easily trigger. but now I'm getting used to it and it's just a great writing experience.
on the other switches of course I can not write here because I did not use them. but I can at least compare the blue, because a friend has a keyboard with blue switches and I have already tried. I find really better to write the brown and gaming.
Layout: who has researched more, knows how hard it can be, a mechanical + compact + ISO EN layout keyboard to find with brown switches that also costs less than 200.
I have to choose between:
- CM Storm QuickFire TK
- CM Storm QuickFire Rapid (nciht simply buying on the Internet ... but it should give with brown switches, would have been my first choice, there's a bit smaller than the TK)
- FILCO majestouch2 TKL (too expensive with about 160)
- WASD keyboards (keyboards great, but just "out of stock" and is with delivery from the United States and import turnover tax in Germany, and 180)
- Ducky (Price medium, but not to get in the right switches to the correct layout) shine3
I regret the purchase of TK for a second !!
appearance:
++ Matt black - in fact, I find them quality Seeming as the product images it attest her.
++ Lighting - adjustable in 5 steps from very light to "stare into the sun - light," No really the brightest can loose the room light. color of the illumination with brown switches
is white (with red-red, with blue-blue)
Keys ++ - feel good, can be herausnehemen well with the supplied keypuller. (I was told, however, that one should take a keypuller wire rather, since you can easily plastic buttons damage / scratch with the cheap from)
feel:
++ The unit feels great to, weighs noticeably much and is processed dibasic. certainly not absolute premium, but still very good!
++ The USB cable is braided
Ergonomics:
++ A nice little fingerprint, compact and complete. you have to adhere to the combination of pay-pad and right arrow keys + Del key, etc. used. (Explanation: space-saving were the arrow keys and everything about what is available separately in the normal keyboard size, incorporated into the pay-pad, so you need to get used to a little time but I'd rather save space than to have these useless keys..) - All in all, the size almost as small as a TKL (tenkeyless).
++ The USB cable can be stake
++ The USB cable can be set via cable guide on the bottom of the unit either left, center, or lead out right. great thing (not all keyboards)
++ Really great: the feet to tilt the keyboard are not just gummed, they are fully rubberized peripherally, what is also very good, because otherwise glued wear rubber strip quickly, or could scratch the table by wear. or worse, that would make rutschfestigeit to naught.
NKRO: I personally do not need NKRO because it strikes me as absolutely unnecessary hype. what should I ask all keys on the keyboard simultaneously press? and more importantly, how do I do that? even the most complicated game and the fastest tipper can not and do not need that. I have fingers on my hand so only five. I can when it comes up so 6 buttons (and also because I can not think, in which I play 6 keys at once should press) so I find nonsense to advertise it with NKRO but let it be said: this keyboard has NKRO via USB.
function keys: The F keys (I to control my media) funkltionieren perfectly.
IMPORTANT; Some reviews often describe that the Fn key is not working or somehow 3 must be pressed for seconds and that was really bad.
Explanation: When the Fn button does not light up, then you can not use the media keys and expresses instead the corresponding F-key. If you want to use a Mediakey pressing fn + Mediakey and it work.
if you now the fn key pressed for a few seconds, it snaps - quite normal. Then he lit and that means that one out at a pressure to a F key always Mediakey suppressed without the need to press the Fn key. just as you can snap back with a long press on the Fn key off the. So everything is in butter with the keyboard.
Windows off-key: There is a button that turns off the Windows key - very angenehem playing particularly.
mac - Compatibility: The keyboard works perfectly on Mac, but the Command and Alt keys on different courses. a little strange but not a problem.
CONCLUSION:
the CM Storm QuickFire TK is a great keyboard that is great processed, illuminated and well thought out. for the price it is for me anyway the absolute blockbuster. since no one comes close.
