This opus is a sumptuous favorite, a wonderful gift we'd like to receive each day. I spent the day at the listen again, and I'm already like totally dependent, bewitched ... Will I become addicted again within hours Mr Cullum? Maybe, but if it does so much better !! The album is eaten ears as we enjoyed a beautiful landscape of the eyes or a great wine taste buds. Nothing to deviate, everything is delicious and delectable, we enjoy every second as if it might never happen again.
By the second listen, I already had the feeling of knowing all the melodies by heart, they instantly resonated in my cells that had spontaneously remembered the first pass, probably for eternity. JC offers a mix of pop-jazz swingants securities bearing rock accents here and there (The same things, When I get famous, Edge of something, Take me out ..) and most romantic songs (Love for sale, Pure imagination, Anyway, Get a hold of yourself) that leave you speechless soul. The texts are not left out, simple but not simplistic, sometimes distilling some more personal messages (Sad sad world, When I get famous), the words carefully stick to swing music and an impeccable orchestration. It will include titles by colors and scents of bebop jazz, New Orleans, R & B and rock of the 50's, but recalled the heyday of the Platters or Otis Redding for example.
This album is the musical genre that the truffle is a food type, a pinch is enough to inspire your day to tell you that life is still beautiful to live and sing. So, please do not deprive yourself to discover what a great great artist lives everyday in his guts and his heart beauty to offer some of his passion and talent for that we are all just a very bit happier than before This gentleman and swing music recorded in his genes !! The culmination of a long musical evolutionary line which has already integrated all just 34 years.
With that, I leave you enjoying this "I'm on the edge of something so I just keep running every time I loose my head" (as "Edge of something") that spins in mine (head) and will surely stay there long, long time
