Following the acquisition of an excellent combat helicopter simulator (DCS Black Shark), I bought TrackIR Pro 5 comes in very handy. For those who do not know what is this, I will tell them that allows to visualize the virtual world just by moving your head. First, the price. This really is not cheap! If you are a true fan of the simulation, then it is for you. If not, well, think about more than once.
Considering the base price, it is regrettable to have only simple reflector that necessarily attaches to a cap with a rim. Although metallized, it is relativemnt fragile. Furthermore, we must ensure that around you, there is no interference in the capture field TrackIR (eg, the sun in your back or other source of reflection). Indeed, in this case, the heads of movements are poorly captured.
Ideally, you will need to acquire a significant additional cost the TrackClip Pro. It replaces the reflector by overcoming its drawbacks and provides greater flexibility and precision movements of the head. It attaches to a helmet with a clip at two levels. We reproach this clip fragility: it is plastic and can easily break. Too bad!
Of course, like any device fitted to a computer, it needs a pilot (which is included with purchase). If the installation is very easy, using it is less so. At first, I struggled to understand how this program because before each use TrackIR Pro needs to be initialized. It should be understood by this that you must start the program first, center the position of the reflector or TrackClip then start your favorite game. And this each time you start your game. An explicit manual would have been a more certain, especially since it is possible to access advanced settings. It merely provides a simple pamphlet.
One last regret, the TrackIR Pro must be pretty close to your head and ideally to its height. It is usually fixed on the top of a screen; it is very small so discreet, but you must keep a few centimeters (ideally I think about 70 cm). This provides you with a small movement front and back that allows you to zoom in some games your virtual vision.
Apart from these drawbacks, the TrackIR Pro detects fine movements the axes of the left / right, up / down, forward / backward, and vertical lattéraux your head, especially equipped TrackClip. The hardest part is to set the sensitivity of the motion detection. Once done, you take your foot!
To summarize my comments, this product is especially designed for fans of the simulation because of its price and acquire the most TrackClip proves to be ideal.
