Customer Review

Happy French readers who will discover Eric Ambler, unjustly neglected in our country. Begin the hunt for them for 18 (excellent) novels of this great founder of espionage book "looking for Eric" ...
Actually, even if it was greeted by Ian Fleming and John Le Carré, Eric Ambler wrote more than spy novels: a bit like Graham Greene (think "The Quiet American" or "The third man "), his books depict ordinary fellows (though somewhat ambiguous) also struggling with considerable force qu'obscures.
"The Mask of Dimitrios" is a good example: in the late 30s, Charles Latimer novelist trying to save a family business which is very interested the Syrian authorities ...
The writing is meticulous, obsessive, situations like the characters described with great care, the pace is alternately slow and fast - in short, it is savored like a good cup of tea.
After this book, Eric Ambler wrote many masterpieces: "The Schimer heritage", "the Levantine", "Do not send more roses," "Pike" - among others.
