Double Indemnity (Paperback)

Customer Review

This book is composed of three long stories (or so three short novels), "Double Indemnity" (insurance fraud), "Forgery" (fraud to the bank) and "Career in C major" (a architect technically unemployed launches into opera ...).
Their common point? Passionate love of a man who will push it to the last extremity - at its peril.
Written in that crude language, direct, efficient, which made James Cain master writing fifties (Camus confessed to have been inspired for "The Stranger"), these gems can be read in one sitting.
James Cain wrote again fabulous novels: "The Postman Always Rings Twice," "Serenade" (two thrillers) and Mildred Pierce.
