This story is based on a real event. The narration takes many forms, I'll remember the one I preferred, the part where Grace Marks recounts her life, her native Ireland, the grueling crossing the Atlantic to join Canada with his family, his years as a maid in various houses, arrest at the age of 16 years and finally his life prisoner. They are dignified accounts of a bitter and lonely existence. For simplicity and discretion, Grace Marks charm the reader, as she charms the doctor and the families of prison directors as there has elegance in his judgments, great lucidity, a reserve and a refinement in his attitude. This reserve could be likened to the coldness due to his great sense of dignity but could also conceal something more ominous ... I least enjoyed analyzing "medical" of his case, because it n ' is not successful and above all well-finished abruptly, which left a feeling of frustration.
