Now he has his hobby into "second job" - almost one and a half years ago signed the 19-year-old Australian a recording contract with EMI Australia, and in August the time had come: Troye Sivan's first studio album or EP appeared.
"TRXYE" how the good piece is called, includes five songs, including the single "Happy Little Pill", as well as the aforementioned song "The Fault In Our Stars" in a newly produced version. Simply by pre-EP was able to climb in over 50 countries No. 1 on the iTunes charts - absolutely rightly.
Review of each song:
Happy Little Pill (9/10)
An interesting mix of pop and (downtempo) electric, with deep lyrics and a soft voice.
If something can tolerate more pace and liveliness, yet it remains in the ear and loses its appeal not even after repeated listening.
Touch (10/10)
A first rather quiet number, but it has it all: the chorus is followed by a beat that will not let go.
Transported a unique atmosphere, among others again by Sivan's gentle voice and lyrics that get under your skin.
Fun (8/10)
Serious song when it comes to lyrics: the recruitment of child soldiers in the Middle East. The message behind the song goes, unfortunately, a little lost by the melody that seems a little too cheerful to me. Nevertheless, a strong song. Highlight: the refrain from 2:30 with a sort of children's choir in the background.
Gasoline (7/10)
Beautiful song touching lyrics, the voice generated (again) goosebumps. The content of the song is brought over very authentic: a failed relationship and the accusations that he makes himself and that plague him.
The only drawback: the beat is somewhat incongruous. More piano, possibly Strings, and less "boom ba boom" had done well the song.
The Fault In Our Stars (8/10)
In principle, the same as in Gasoline: great voice, beautiful lyrics (especially "You lost a part of your existence in the war against yourself"). A nice ending for the EP, as well as a song that would have been the movie soundtrack worthy.
Unfortunately, even here some overproduced again, the original version I liked better in person.
Total: 42/50 points. Actually, four stars, but I find it extremely successful as a debut and seems to me the young man (judging his videos and interviews to) extremely personable and refreshingly normal, so 5 stars.
