That the Dire Straits were an outstanding band, understood and also that Mark Knopfler has produced as a solo artist quite listenable albums. However, this compilation is more than annoying because: 1. Are there any with "Sultans of Swing (The Very Best Of)" already a very successful compilation of Dire Straits (optionally even as a double CD with some live footage on the bonus disc). Even on the single CD with 16 songs are already more Straits classics represented than on the present compilation here. 2. While Mark Knopfler has had as a solo artist is not the overwhelming success as yet with the Dire Straits, is to say he can not just put a lot of hit singles in the charts, but, the 9 (!!!) songs represented here his solo career not a piece of justice. Its four "proper" solo albums plus the numerous soundtracks have since 1996 but really lent more (I will not even start now to list the missing songs ...). 3. For me a mystery why the nearly 80 minutes that fit on a CD, not better "filled" has (only 11 songs per CD ???). Conclusion: A rather unnecessary compilation. Who wants a Best of the Dire Straits, which was mentioned for the top, grab class "Sultans of Swing", who wants to get to know Mark Knopfler as a solo artist, must inevitably begin with one of his albums, because there is a reasonable solo best-of does not yet exist. The present here attempt Knopfler's career and to the Dire Straits to pack on a double-CD, can be viewed as a failure! PS What Knopfler's solo albums terms: best not with "The Ragpicker's Dream" (2002) start, which is probably "gewöhnungsbedürftigsten" on!
