The picture is good as long as you sit very center front of the TV. Side seats or peeping from above (while standing) or from below (while lying on the floor) bring significant loss of quality (low contrast).
The sound of the speakers is relatively good.
When Smart-TV the TV hung in some apps on from time to time. Sometimes then helped the back button, I sometimes had to perform a system reboot.
For USB Recording:
Connecting and activating a new USB hard drive went smoothly. To perform recording, you have to be constantly connected to the Internet. Why you need to permanently have an Internet connection, is beyond me, but should not be a problem thanks to flat rate.
Can take you only accept parcels that are available via Internet EPG. In the RTL iEPG was only available for the next 3 days. That said, I could not broadcast that was in 4 days and beyond programmed.
An alternative broadcast programming by day and time is not available. Also, a continuous shooting function for repetitive sequences not there.
Opening the menu and the iEPG call is very sluggish. Sometimes it takes about 20 seconds until the TV by pressing react, although I have a 32 Mbit internet connection.
I would like in addition to a program currently recording (for example, a film for my wife) see something else, this is also not possible. One can neither an external source, such as changing a DVD player, still with the SmartTV access the Internet ,. One is forced to watch the movie, which is taken up especially.
It is also questionable how long my new USB hard drive would have lived. The read-write LED of the hard disk flickered in 100ms-clock continuously. It does not matter whether you just what is recording or not. Why reads or writes the TV permanently in 100ms-rhythm what to disk, although I'm not receiving something?
Despite the latest firmware has the device that is on the market since early 2012, yet substantial teething troubles and an absolutely ill-considered USB recording function. For a Philips that's more than embarrassing. Too bad!
