I shoot with 400mm focal length in RAW, convert to DNG Lightroom on and look at the result there at zoom level 1: 1.
Here I come to the following conclusions: shots from the hand are not possible. Whether with or without stabilizer. Since some comes together to blur. The stabilizer has sometimes funny episodes: Straight vertical lines (only with 1: 1 visible) partly serpentine. Shots from the tripod without stability are much better. Combining tripod, mirror lockup and VR off then brings a notch sharp result.
These restrictions are, of course only for viewing at 1: 1. Even at 1: 2 go through all the images, the shot out of hand.
Otherwise I like the design and feel of the look very. The lens hood deserves greatest praise. Autofocus I find no way to be particularly slow. And that he makes noises that I noticed when handling not large. The images are sharp right into the corners.
Addendum 22:03:15: At first, I did not have the tripod collar. Now I have it and have tried them equal. I can not understand why these original tripod collar is denigrated by some people as insufficiently absolutely. I think they are excellent and fully usable. These should be noted that I have many years of experience in dealing with telephoto lenses, will therefore not be confronted for the first time with a tripod collar.
