H2G2 VI: One more thing ... (Paperback)

Customer Review

With the exception of the first volume, I have few memories of H2G2 saga (the only trilogy in five volumes that I know of). There was a lot of science, a lot of humor, imagination, improbable characters and no real depth. But it was broke. How can you not love Marvin, the Paranoid Android? How not to see space as a suddenly hospitable place where everything is likely? Who does not want to have a Babel Fish in the ear?

My son loves the Artemis Fowl series, so I curiosity, read a tome (the fifth). It is fast paced, but the suspense remains low and mainly follows the adventures. This is not bad and many details remain interesting even addictive. One recognizes here the rather formidable work of Eoin Colfer on H2G2. Great as to follow up this series is not a small matter. Some aspects remain so: humor, inventiveness flawless, the main characters and the kind of story that is mostly an excuse.

But unlike books of Douglas Adams, the scenario is even more indigestible, Marvin is not there, and especially science either. Is poured into the real fantastic, with Norse gods slightly superficial, a long introduction, a conclusion which is equally important. I struggled to get to the end, despite its qualities (to which I still admire). This is not Artemis Fowl in space, but the bet is successful in half, which is not bad.
