Now, the positives first:
Appearance: This is hardly objectively evaluate. I like the look.
Fit: The shoe fit perfectly on the two pairs of shoes that I use for cycling. It's not too tight, which means I get to closure in the back, and it's not too far, that is, there is tends to be more no rain from the bottom in. The shoe is high enough for my needs. This means that the dirt (mud, fine sand, slush) from the road stays on the overshoe and does not make the rain pants dirty.
Function: This is with the fit in my opinion the most important point. The first few weeks, if not the first month were interesting as the weather. It was alternately cool and moist, likes to combine both times. As I mentioned above, I prefer the shoe to also if there is no rain for but is fresher. I do not want winter cycling pants (with soft shell inserts), because I sweat so fast. On the other hand cool my feet off fairly quickly. So I put on the shoe, if it has a little less than ten degrees Celsius. Lo and behold, the feet cool no longer as strong as between the shoe and the shoe over a layer of air is, the more likely retains the heat. In this regard, the overshoe met to about -2 degrees C. (colder it has until now my tachometer not be published) my expectations and exceeds them.
The first 4-5 rain, through which I had to drive, does not penetrate through the overshoe. I was amazed, as I was in contrast to more sober. Moisture has settled in the space between leg end (long Radel pants) and footwear beginning, ie where the socks sticking out from the inside of the shoe cover. But that was my steam condensed there.
The shoe holds sufficiently tight even today. The last couple of weeks, if not the whole last month has been rained out in Munich. Showers, drizzle and other forms of water from above are now fallen. However, the droplets bead is no longer on so nice. I realize that the substance takes a little moisture. The seams are welded fortunately, that's going too hardly.
But it's just "only" enough - at least for my understanding.
And here we come to the really negative:
The shoe looks for, I'm even cautiously, 3 months of intensive use, of which around 2 months journey in rain, not as nice tight as at the beginning. This may be due to several things. Probably the main reason is the impregnation that has been washed out by the rain in the course of time. The material itself keeps the rain from rough shoe continues from, but after a 3/4 hour to 1 hour drive through the rain overshoe well as inside is wet. I think this is currently my pain threshold. It's just so that the shoe is not moist se, but dry is something else.
About two weeks ago I crashed. Carelessness on my part, nothing spectacular, I am not at all times been so quick on the go (slightly faster than walking pace). I'm stuck under Radl with one leg, so the right overshoe has touched the bottom of the sidewalk. At a higher speed, it would not have surprised me that the overshoe takes such damage. Along the contact surface of the over shoe to the ground are small to about 3 mm (diameter) holes. In order for the right shoe cover is almost useless. That annoys me because the aforementioned colleague is like I plunged with the difference that his speed was much higher than mine. However, his overshoes were not overlooked with small holes.
My Conclusion:
My wife has the same model, of course, a couple of sizes smaller. However, the temporal comparison she drives less than I used to work. For them, the overshoes are entirely sufficient, they are probably also her rich even into next year, if not more (we bought at the same time). For my (special) needs, they unfortunately are not enough. The material is problematic for my Self. Little is waterproof in my opinion hardly durable and without impregnation. After three intense months of use (every day, 20 km round, 20 km back, on average about 40 minutes each, sometimes more, sometimes less) looks even my left shoe cover (quasi the "good") taken from, compared to the overshoe my colleague looks on the other hand made like new.
I have not thought about whether it is beneficial, if I call the mark of over shoe of my colleagues, but for the moment it seems to me useful if among the readers some are who are looking for a shoe cover, they like me, or want to use more intensively. My colleague goes after only the second pair of overshoes AGU, making it highly satisfied (the first pair has held about 5 years). The material seems to be really robust and smooth and without post-impregnation also waterproof. On the toe is not a thin material (Vaude), but a decent Cordura fabric (AGU) is, for example sewn. The AGU overshoes makes me compared a more solid impression and is just as expensive / cheap.
My Vaude rain pants, however (which is fluid pants or something like that), which I bought at the same time with the overshoes here on Amazon, reflected perfectly. I'm really hochzifrieden with her! Both the water resistance, and breathability (my legs do not sweat all that much compared to the torso) puts me constantly amazed.
