Very positive I find the kit compilation here. While Canon often has a lens case, which is best sold immediately, can be here from the beginning to work very well with, and the range 18-105 mm already covers most of situations from which one is confronted. (I put later a few sample images here)
What I, however, like better in my previous Canon cameras, is the feel. In the present D5200 I will not shake the feeling of having a lot of plastic in his hand, and some rough surfaces, to feel the beginning of a little, as if you go on a blackboard with his fingernails ... The weight is in combination with this lens for me OK (I prefer it a little harder). Without this, I find the body quite easily.
The menu navigation is very tidy and well transparent. Usually the points are shown with short concise statements or accompanied with small pictures. Very good I find here the rider on the last selected settings are listed. So to get to frequently used features quickly ran without again to shimmy through the submenus.
In optical viewfinder you can see only about 95% of the actual image. Ie: you later something "more" in the picture than meets the eye when shooting. Who cares who uses the Live View which outputs the image on the swiveling monitor.
The video recordings are stored in the ".mov" format can be selected to 1920 x 1080 50i. Also known from movies Blu-ray format is 24p. Although I would always accessible to me, for videos on a video camera because the zoom alone here a certain skill requires, because you have to do it myself this during recording by hand. For the sound, there is a built-in microphone on top of the flash cover. This is recorded in stereo, and also takes the usual wind noises loudly with on. You can connect an external microphone, but no headphones for direct monitoring. The camera thus has indeed a very good Full HD video, but the video function remains more of a positive byproduct.
The image quality in the photo area is quite excellent in almost any situation, and the 39 autofocus points (like the D7000) work fast and do a good job. The colors are natural and vivid, sometimes almost plastic, which I personally 24.1 MP already look almost as too much. Especially as the output size of the pictures in the FINE range then about 25 MB will be JPG at approximately 10 MB and RAW. (Just so hang someone 2 originals to an email, depending on the account can then already go in the pants ...)
A great (for me) function, the HDR is automatic. If you like this kind of images, comes here fully at its expense by the camera in different freely selectable levels (ranging from subtle, to extremely) automatically when shooting HDR version created. (But only in JPG mode). The fascinating results are achieved mostly at dawn, but here a tripod is attached. In good light you go without just because it depends on motive, if the effect also brings what.
Like many modern cameras also provides the D 5200 is a whole range of tools to assist in the recording to distort an image. I personally feel that you can do this later, more convenient on your PC, and would rather focus on the subject, as to think "how did that now equal to", especially since color alienation rather advised to chance.
The set includes, inter alia, a carrying bag, a handy battery charger plug without cable, a detailed printed German manual (not just PDF) but unfortunately no HDMI cable, for this is one case with RCA plugs, which today hardly anyone really needs.
Also worth mentioning is the WiFi capability that I could not test, because this an optional accessory to be infected. Too bad, because system cameras such as the Sony NEX-6 have been integrated so that the comparable price ...
All in all, the D5200 has a great part, the quality and variety of possibilities on the cutting edge of technology holds ready. Here to look anything negative, would complain at very high levels. Of course you have to decide what is important to one, and how much you want to spend. Especially as the D7000 is to have an alternative now with the same lens for less ...
