Unfortunately something got broken into the headphone jack on the player after just over three years, making the headphones excessively easily slips out of the socket and the sound is not partially transferred properly when I'm running around with players in your pocket. Therefore, a new was needed.
I have in the electronics store angetestet several players and am back at GoGear Vibe (this time in black plastic version) stuck. What I liked so much better on this player than the other players on display there, the size (not to 's largest, not too small), the appearance (in particular see the menus of many other players in my opinion of terribly cheap), the In my view selbstredende operation (which unfortunately is absolutely not self-evident), support for folder navigation (unfortunately also not self-evident) the ability to handle the player without even looking at the screen well, and not least the sound. And in all this, the price of this player also holds the frame.
As the Vörgänger, I like these players, but there are a number of details have been changed, which were great predecessor, but with this one ... not so. And I do not understand why you have driven at these points so fast and loose, unless of course there were cost savings in the game -.-
COVER:
While the old version had a manufactured mostly made of aluminum housing, this is the front plastic and the back is rubberized. However, I do not find that the player thus cheap to the touch. I think one can roughly with the feeling of the Nexus 5 compare. I have the players in black, which, together with the menu, which are mostly in black, gives the player a nice simple look. Here you can see fingerprints quite fast on the plastic. I wonder how stable the material. My old player has fallen to me over the years numerous times from different heights on different materials without visually or sonically any recognizable damages.
BUTTONS:
The "Play" button is here no longer raised but sunk, which means that it is not so easily be actuated accidentally. There are no dedicated volume knobs more; the volume is instead about the "high" - controlled / "Down" buttons on the front. Unusual, but okay. The keys have a front schwammigeren pressure point than its predecessor, the buttons for "Back" and "Menu" below the display are directly flatter than its predecessor and not to feel so good because of the plastic. What was also saved, special buttons for turning on and off the player are (now on the "Play" button) and the key lock (now on the "Menu" button). The predecessor there was for these features a slider, which is much less susceptible to accidental operation, in my experience.
DISPLAY:
Can be, as far as I can tell, a little better read in direct sunlight, at least then, if you have a rather bright color as "third color" (see next item) selects.
MENU - APPEARANCE:
Here was also saved. In the old version of the menu, there were three background colors (Blue, Red, Black), and here you can only change the color scheme of the typeface. The menu accordingly has only three colors: black, white, and the selected third color. The symbols for each menu category, unlike its predecessor, is neither a 3D appearance even animations when category changes, but in a single color in 2D. I think all this is not bad, but they were the predecessor nice details that I miss in the new version anyway.
The predecessor also made it possible to do away with show along with the information about the current song, the cover of the accompanying album. I have not yet figured out whether / how to do that with the new player. Basically realized the cover of my players, when they are displayed as a screensaver when I make the appropriate setting. Unfortunately, the cover are thereby shown much too loud and jump every few seconds from one corner of the display to the next. Why has built such a thing, but saving at other points of the menu, I can not get any in the head.
MENU - Functionality:
Here, unfortunately, lacking options, had the predecessor, such as:
- Control of the display brightness
- Clock as a screen saver
- Setting the time after which is changed during inactivity to screensaver
PAIN IN THE ASS 1:
The new player has a volume protection. This manifests itself in the fact that you have to confirm with "Yes" as soon as one sets the volume from 12 to 13. With this confirmation, the higher volumes are "unlocked" - but unfortunately not permanent. If you switch the player off, the volume is lowered after switching on again at 12, and you have 13+ unlock again. And not only, but also, if you temporarily adjust the volume manually increased to 12. And each. Damn. Time. Although it is only a pressure on the "Play" button, which fortunately close to the "high" is key, but in the long run annoying the powerful. One way the permanent activation of the volume does not seem to give.
I do not use the player by the way with 30-Euro-Senn hoarse, and when I'm out and about, I need a volume of 12/13/14 to arrive to the street noise.
THE biggest annoyance:
The sorting of the folder in the folder navigation is absolutely stupid. One would assume that this would (like its predecessor probably noticed!), Done alphabetically. Forget it. This player ordered by date / Urhzeit of copying the folder on the computer. Bad luck if you do not exactly in your mind exactly when you set which folder (and really you can with an 8 GB memory now not expected). My music collection includes numerous artists, each artist has a folder. As I search for a needle in a haystack.
And I refuse to navigate via ID3 tags. My "Miscellaneous" -Odrdner I let the players determined not in a long list with only one, two songs unravel.
All in all I am satisfied with the players. The sound is completely satisfactory for me and the player looks good and high quality. Only I am especially of this version a bit disappointed because the older version was better in some respects.
Incidentally, I use the player only for listening to music. Pictures, videos, voice recording, etc. are nice gimmicks, but not relevant to me and therefore never seriously used in both players, which is why I want to make no information.
