The interest of the DHB B36HR (unlike B36HU DHB also offered on Amazon.com) is its USB port: one can connect an external hard drive (or insert a USB flash drive) into this jack and record directly TNT HD. I tried, it works wonderfully: the quality of the recording is the same as direct. You have to think two things if you want to save the TNT in HD with this camera:
- Have (or buy) an external hard drive (and a HDMI 1.3 cable) or USB (depending on the desired capacity)
- Format the hard drive in FAT32 format (the old Windows disk management system), NTFS (the current Windows system) is not recognized by the device. To do this, there are several free software (such as FAT32format) or paid (as PartitionMagic). This operation takes only a few seconds and does not cause any compatibility issues. I bought a Western Digital external hard drive and it works perfectly: I can record, watch the recording, transfer the recording on the PC, etc.
Cons: The remote control buttons are a bit small.
Oh yes: to program a recording, you have to press the blue button (not shown in the manual). Apart from that, the camera is very intuitive and easy to use.
