The Ortofon 2M Red is a great pickup for ambitious beginners.
I have the system for a long time operated on a Reloop RP-2000 MK3 turntable, now it performs on a Yamaha P-300 his service.
I hear so mainly rock and jazz and for this, the system is excellent. It is characterized by a whopping bass reproduction and a good detailed drawing on the tweeter. Moreover, it plays very much clearer than my predecessor (Audio Technica AT3600L).

For vinyl fans who want to conveniently listen to their plates high quality the Ortofon 2M Red is thoroughly recommended.
