It is "ok" on this unit by a hologram. My / our personal experience shows that after a few measurements can very well determine the right one for the individual person at wrist for the measuring. For comparative measurements on site at the doctor and in the pharmacy, the device then showed with the individually determined at wrist an amazingly good accuracy.

For the power supply:
I use for this device (and for many other devices) from the beginning not "prescribed" by the manufacturer alkaline batteries, but (very specific) batteries. In my experience to determine the manufacturer with the exclusion of batteries just on the "safe side" to prevent unauthorized complaints. Alkaline batteries have a nominal voltage of 1.5 volts per cell, NiCd and NiMH batteries, however only 1.2 volts per cell. With 2 battery cells, this results in an operating voltage for the device of 3.0 volts, with 2 batteries on the other hand only 2.4 volts.
