I have to use my hard disk (TrekStor DataStation maxi gu 1.5TB external hard drive (8.9 cm (3.5 inches), 7200rpm, USB 2.0) Black) bought from Amazon to it on my wireless router as a network attached storage (NAS) , Regarding the quality of the hard drive, so I can only confirm the assessments of reviews. It is definitely a very good product !! First I got the hard drive formatted with NTFS, because there will be no problems when copying large files. Formatting (NTFS default on Windows Vista; not quick format) took so about 24 hours (!!). Then I got the drive to my FritzBox 7270 (FRITZ! Box Fon WLAN 7270; firmware version 54.04.80!) Connected to it as I have said to use as a network hard drive. In between a USB hub from Belkin depends ("Belkin USB 2.0 7-Port Hub, 2 ports upward for better access"), I have also purchased from Amazon. The drive is recognized immediately and everything works just fine. The interposed USB hub is not a problem and also works flawlessly. What might be interesting especially for FritzBox 7270 users is the fact that the spin-down function (standby function) of the Fritz box is 7270 supported by this drive! This means that you, the device connected to the Fritz box hard drive by means of a setting in the FritzBox menu after a defined time (in my case: 5 minutes) to save can put in a standby mode to power. Unfortunately, this support is not all hard disks ... you then accesses eg the computer to the hard drive via WiFi to drive you back up. My goal is to soon take the MP3 collection on the plate to reflect this then with a wireless music player (eg iPod touch with PlugPlayer). The MP3 playback via the computer is already excellent and with no interruptions. Also running with the Windows Media Player movies recorded (via DTT added) without any problems. All in all, a product that is very well suited for use with the Fritz box 7270! I would recommend this product definitely recommend (especially as the price / performance ratio is very good, the plate really very silent running (we hear they do not really except very briefly (and also quite quiet) at start-up after standby mode) and compatibility is given with the Fritz box 7270 incl. spin down) !!!
