The target group I would recommend Synology products for beginners to advanced. A NAS newcomer comes very quickly became clear to the system and can adjust very detailed it very easy.
There is also a small "App Store" for the Synology NAS, where you can expand the system to other features.
I use the NAS as backup storage primarily for Windows and MAC systems in our home network (Setting up Time Machine as a backup target using the Synology NAS takes with guidance from Synology more than 5 minutes!), And the function as a media server.
I have my iTunes library it is stored as an iTunes server. Also, I can just simply stream from my TV, PC, tablet or PS3 movies via the integrated media server. The whole thing is so quick to set up and requires absolutely no expertise.
There are countless other features that simply work. In the professional segment are bound to find manufacturers that offer more features, however, but are also extremely complicated when configuring.
The NAS also works with me at present for 5 months continuously. The only restart that I make are by new updates "causes"
I especially like the automatic email notification, if someone tries to log in via my password, there was a power outage, or the hard disk (s) to report an error, etc. So I have not even access the admin interface to see the most important ,
The "small" 1-Bay NAS I bought in 2011 and run until today without problems. Move, twice she has coped.
Here you do in my opinion is nothing wrong! It being understood that much also depends on the hard drive, which one builds there.
