First Installation:
Unpack, plug - running. The automatic program run takes a while, then one has then its 200+ TV channels and several radio stations. I have not even taken the trouble, all to sort by hand, I have the software of Samsung loaded me to sort it on the laptop. (Note: I found the software difficult searchable in Google under "Samsung channellist PC Editor v1.01" should be able to find something, or at the TVs on the Samsung website under Software / Downloads)
With the program, it takes even a while, but it's a bit more comfortable. Well, I think that there are 5 favorite lists, although I personally can see. ;)
The menu is fairly self-explanatory, Wi-Fi is fast furnished, most of the apps I have not tested, because my operation via the remote control is too fummlig.
TV picture:
The picture is simply amazing! Even with my only HD-ready compatible television, it just looks good (or exactly why?)! The HD channels look natural best, but also SD comes close almost to this quality! Incomparable to the analog image (never again, especially because the quality which is really bad by the player, as noted already in other reviews!), But also the Humax of KabelBW looked far from not as good as the image of Samsung.
The teletext is fast (on the Humax a horror!) To evaluate the switching times with duration ~ 1s quite as well.
The EPG is visually appealing, and stocked with plenty of info. Much more info by the way, as in the case KabelBW own. (Sounds weird, but it's true)
BluRay picture:
Just a great picture, all I can say. Compared with the Playstation par. But as I said, I use only 1024 lines on the TV, people with FullHD panel may recognize as differences) the telly is (1080p compatible yet)!
Sound generally:
The Samsung is a good sound, delays I could not find, except for Xvid files, here the sound was noticeably (1s!) Asynchronously. But as I previously could not play with the PS3, I do not miss that.
Here was one of the only settings that I changed: The sound output format I had from PCM to Bitstream (Unprocessed) change to benefit of DTS-HD Master Audio. (Although to 2 boxes missing, I know ....;)
Between broadcasters, there are slight changes in volume, but these are bearable. The old Humax had much larger differences, which were not acceptable.
Operating noise:
During the first 5 minutes after switching on, it is very well audible at inserted CD / DVD / BR, at this time, the disk appears to rotate on stand. So you have to either wait, or simply remove the wheel. During playback, I hear only in very quiet scenes the unit, the PS3 was as communicative with her fan (old, large 40GB version).
General operation:
As already described, the menu is very intuitive, and the manual does not need one (s) really. The operation using my Harmony works perfectly, the player responds well to it. Quite contrary to m, yeah right, Humax (max 2 ° lateral deviation, or at least felt ...).
Also with my Andriod smartphone works operation excellent, if both are in the same WLAN. Simply install Remote app Samsung, accepting the player once, and off you go. Without delay, these commands are implemented.

TV Recording:
This is a small drawback, but it's apparently so willed. The recordings can be unfortunately not play on PC. My 8GB USB stick I originally wanted to use it as a test, but the device has not been accepted. Property me then the Amazon housing LC-Power installed hard drive enclosure for (6.3 cm (2.5 inches), SATA USB2 ordered, and an existing 250 GB hard drive from Samsung. On the laptop I have set up 2 partitions, 200GB first , for shooting, and the remaining nearly 50 for photos.
The first partition must be formatted, unfortunately you can only poorly recognize which is the first! So please try without important information on the other partition !!!
Schedule Record, Timeshift and works very well. Unfortunately, starting and ending times are taken from the fix EPG, therefore may be missing before a few minutes. The image recording is then as good as the live image.
As a rule of thumb: 10min HD program (ARD HD) consume approximately 1GB, 10min SD (Pro7) about 400MB. But of course this can vary greatly.
The biggest annoyance at the time is that you can forward only slowly and can not rewind! This is, as already noted, a bug of firmware 1008. I hope that this is done quickly, because it is extremely annoying when a 4H-Super Bowl recording. As a workaround, you can turn left or right on the directional pad click to take you 20 seconds forward or backward.
Style:
Well, suitable for me, silver / black, but it's just plastic. But since I do not look with his hand on the device I do not care. Only the touch buttons on the unit I find less than optimal, they are true fat magnets. Luckily, you do not really need it. (However, a hide would be nice too)
SO, actually, it should only be a short text was, but probably more. Short Summary:

Class picture and sound, both BluRay, HD and SD programs
Ease of use, problems with phone and Logitech Harmony
Great all-rounder, for TV and disc and Internet gadgets
Simple recording function, time shift
Neutral:
CI + slot, because if you need it ... (high cost KabelBW since only rent!)
Remote control, I find them bulky and too colorful. But with me it is only in the drawer ...;)
Negatives:
Missing forward and rewind functions for shooting (firmware 1008)
No editing options for TV recordings
Unfortunately (yet?) HbbTV function (eg ZDF media library)
USB port on the front (who comes up with such a thing ???)
Conclusion: Currently actually only 4 stars, because of faulty Spool function, but I trust in new firmware, and therefore give it 5 stars.
UPDATE 17 February 2012: This morning, the update has been deployed in 1009, and the non-functioning forward and rewind at TV recordings will work again! Thumbs up! Also you can now push the blue button when shooting, and immediately jumps to the point where you left off to watch. Very good thing! Unfortunately, this is not yet, at BluRays so these always start at the top (incl. The whole stupid preview movies ....).
So, update, download, and look forward to a great player! If other bugs have crept, I'll report it.
