To me, the album The Resistance scored a first big turning point. I appreciate it but I dint see that does not support time, probably because it is too uneven and too commercial for some tracks (Undisclosed desires Rhâââ! I can not take it this one). and finally I do not listen ...
This trend continued through the 2nd law. Same feeling: good songs, but a set that does not really work, uneven again ... we do not understand where they want to come. A trial and error that sometimes borders on commercial pure as Madness eg transpires formatting "single radio".
At the first listening, nothing happens is a difficult broth to swallow. Then gradually some songs stand out:
- Supremacy found some Muse we love, with flights of a rabid rock alternating with portions more "classical", changes of rhythm that I have always loved.
- Panic Station: this piece surprised me at first, but it swings well. He finally tamed and enjoy.
- Survival: the anthem of the London Olympics has the boot, it goes without saying. Although his relationship with Queen is more than obvious. I absolutely love the partition "piano". There is also a nice guitar riff. The lyrics are a bit simplistic at first, but if you dig a little, we find a beautiful description of the mentality of our society today, that of "winners" and individualists.
- Follow me: I had trouble with this one, because it either does not like the Muse. Very electro style with U2 accents ... But ultimately it gradually takes its place.
- Animals: I think my favorite (with Isolated System). I like this repetitive hand melody, the guitar playing. Yes, I like.
- Unsustainable: Here we find the inventiveness of Muse ... I love this piece for his deeply tragic side, although it actually suffers from grandiloquence. The atmosphere is very "film music" that's good because I love this kind. The mixture of styles (classical choirs, dubstep ...) is rather successful. I also remember the important message behind it: our dependence on the system, and the unsustainability of the rhythm of life of our society ... Here we can only thank Muse for his commitment to causes as fundamental ( Moreover it seems that the album cover is made of recycled materials and biodegradable).
- Isolated system: a piece that will remain my lifetime I think. Pure Electro. Pure "Film music". Pure post apocalyptic tragedy. I like ... that's all. I even struggled to speak.
So there is good, but not all, unfortunately. Indeed, as for the other pieces, I just can not capture. Madness m'insupporte for the reasons given above. Explorer ... blah, I think it's a repetition, it leaves me cold. Big Freeze is not bad, but I find uninspired.
The songs sung by Chris are great but I think they detonate the rest, and contribute a lot to this feeling of inequality of all. That also makes me think of the Beatles at the end of their careers wanted each push their song on their side ... prelude to the breaking of the group !!
That's my long comment that expresses feelings, sensations ... but in no case judgments. Anyway I'll never be objective with Muse !! :-)
